Why is my crochet scarf curling?

Well you see, I'm trying to crochet a basic, single stitch scarf and each and every time I try to begin, as soon as I get a third of the way through the second row, one or both ends decide to curl up on me. I've tried controlling the tension of my stitches, counting them, trying a different yarn, nothing seems to work. If anybody, anywhere could help me out here with this crochet crisis, it would be GREATLY appreciated. XD Thanks very much.
